Oh my goodness. Cassandra Clare always freaking delivers. I was so engrossed in this book the last few days and it was seriously the only thing getting me through my cold. Can I just say that Cassandra Clare is a freaking wizard? How does she do it? Seriously how does she always leave me gasping at a plot twist I should’ve seen coming??? Kit? A Herondale. Malcolm? The murderer. Parabatai, unrequited love? Things get worst. HOLY SHADOWHUNTERS. I can’t wait. Only a week from now and the second book is out and I’m sure to devour it. The family dynamics and the friendships are my favorites in this book. Everyone had their own quirks and flaws and it was so amazing as Cassandra Clare carried it out and stayed true to every character throughout the book. The mystery tied into a Poe poem? Genius! Tessa and Jem, and Magnus and the mention and appearance of all the old cast: all I ever want. Overall, this book was amazing and I can’t believe I had even an inch of doubt before starting it.
“Those we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch.”
“In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
