Harriet is a very striking character. For one, she is flawed and feeling. She’s critical, at times really mean and really vulnerable. It shows the nasty effects of bullying and mean words. Seeing and experiencing things without truly understanding. Harriet is somewhat unlikable but still a sympathetic character – a kid and a writer that’s learning.
“Those we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch.”
“In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
