“Teenagers being teenagers” and “humans being humans” if there’s one thing I’ve retained from this psychedelic-like graphic novel is that we are doomed to make bad choices and disrupt new environments. It’s hard enough to grasp our own world, having to decipher another realm of sensations and to free our minds is a whole other task for us. I think I’d have to read through it another few times before really grasping the message because it seems too “plainly there” to believe what I believe after first reading. The rainbow-like art intertwined with the washed out black and white really had a greater effect on me – one that I can’t seem to pinpoint?
“Those we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch.”
“In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
