The writing style is absolutely stunning. The back and forward timeline constantly contributed to the story as I went along it felt like it was like piecing a puzzle piece by piece until it all fit chronologically. The two main characters – Werner and Marie-Laure – were well fleshed out which is always a necessity to a good story. However, some parts of the story was hard to follow along shadowed by the writing style and the jump cuts between the timelines. I did left the story sad and tearful and very reflective.
“Those we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch.”
“In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
