It took me a bit to understand and get into the story because the plot is pretty complex, which I like. I love the main character because she knows she’s not inherently ‘good’ but she’s determined to piece out the mysteries of her life/world. I love the talking poetic cats; that’s probably my favorite part. The art is so gritty and brown scaled which is a great contrast when the magic is expelled on a purple scale. Overall, a great debut to a series.
“Those we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch.”
“In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
