What a ride! I was hooked from beginning to the end. I like the play on future president Snow’s name (Coriolanus – as befitting of Shakespeare’s play) as well as Lucy Gray’s (from Wordsworth Lyrical Ballad). I can’t believe how effortlessly love and humanity are disregarded for power (control), money, fame, and politics. It is fascinating to see how righteous Snow thinks of himself and how he can justify all of his horrific actions. Like any tragedy play (Coriolanus), I knew the ending would be unsettling and devastating, well done Suzanne Collins, well done.
“Those we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch.”
“In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
