“Black Hole” is a graphic depiction of the horrors of teenagers. The characters face isolation from society when they contract “the Bug,” a form of STD from unprotected sexual intercourse, making this graphic novel more than just a cautionary tale. It is a tale of transitioning to adulthood and the desires to escape the responsibility this transition brings. I enjoyed the story and the creepy artwork added to the looming fears the teenagers faced.
“Those we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch.”
“In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
