This was so creative, witty, and overall fun to read. I fell in love with the main character and all the side characters. This really is a rich children/young adult book that overturns readers expectations on traditional fairytale. It is through Sophie that we learn the importance of agency, friendship, courage, and perseverance as well as the harmful nature of self-fulfilling prophecies.
“Those we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch.”
“In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
