To say the least, Camus’ existentialism really makes you think. The main character/narrator Clamence is an unreliable anti-hero but yet I sympathized with him regardless – and that’s true mastery on the author’s part. If you are into existential dread personal and universal – this short book is for you.
“Those we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch.”
“In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
