None of the thoughts I would share could possibly do justice to this book. “Normal People” is a raw real life exploration to trauma, insecurity, love, sex, relationship, depression, family, social class, and education. It is mind boggling to me how a book with no quotation marks can encapsulate dialogue so poignantly. The writing in this book is unrivaled. The characters of Marianne and Connell are so complex and tangible; I can already feel them living in my head for a very long while.
“Those we love never truly leave us, Harry. There are things that death cannot touch.”
“In every shining moment of happiness is that drop of poison: the knowledge that pain will come again. Be honest to those you love, show your pain. To suffer is as human as to breathe.”
