The only thing I love more than the fall time is fall reading! 📖🍂
I love books that are filled with witches, vampires, monsters, and the likes. But I also enjoy reading fall books that deal with magic. Thriller, mystery, and gothic are also great genres for the season.
For this fall, I have compiled a list of the 20 best fall books that you need this autumn season!
If you love music, rock & roll, and LA in the 70’s “Daisy Jones & The Six” by Taylor Jenkins Reid is the perfect book for you!
“RU” by Kim Thúy is a great autofiction book as well as an amazing Canadian fiction novel!
“Norwegian Wood” by Haruki Murakami is a classic Japanese novel beloved by many university students (including myself)!
“Les grandes marées” by Jacques Poulin is a wonderful introspective novel. It is tender and thoughtful, and I highly recommend it!
“On Beauty” by Zadie Smith is a fantastic complex book and will make you feel seen in different ways. I read it during my undergrad and fell in love with this novel.
If you like philosophy and the human condition, you definitely need to read the French classic “Candide, ou L’optimisme” by Voltaire!
If you like flawed characters and complex superhero stories, “Watchmen” by Alan Moore is a definite must-read. It’s honestly become a classic at this point!
If you love Christmastime romantic comedy movies, then “My True Love Gave to Me” is the perfect read for you! It features twelve winter romances that are edited by YA author Stephanie Perkins!
“The Brothers Karamazov” by Fyodor Dostoevsky is one of the best Russian novels out there. It’s quite a chunky but definitely well worth the read. I recommend this book to anyone who loves family saga, murder mysteries, and discussions around morality.
If you like reading french books but you’ve read all of the main french literature classics, I would highly recommend dipping your toes into Quebec literature!
“Une saison dans la vie d’Emmanuel” by Marie-Claire Blais is one of my all-time favourite french books and my favourite Quebec literature book!
“Me Before You” is the first book in the “Me Before You” series by Jojo Moyes. I would highly recommend the book (and the series) for readers that enjoy reading transformative books in which the character embarks in a journey of self-discovery.
