Working from home is not easy. It’s actually quite hard if you don’t establish a proper routine for yourself. It’s also difficult when you don’t invest in a proper work space and the right items that could help enhance your productivity.
I love working from home. Being my own boss (I’m a strict boss 😅) has been life-changing. I am more productive and fulfilled than ever.
In the last year, from my time working from home, I have noticed that there are 15 work from home office essentials that I absolutely can’t live without. Plus, these 15 office essentials will guarantee maximum productivity!
1. Standing Desk
The best thing about an adjustable standing desk is that you have the option to either stand or sit while you do work. This is convenient as you can make sure you can change your position as soon as you feel any pain or fatigue.
2. Ergonomic Chair
The second item you absolutely need is an ergonomic chair! This chair will also ensure that you have an ideal backrest for your spine, an adjustable waist support, and many more features ensuring your physical well-being while you work.
3. Table (or Laptop) Stand
A table stand is also another much-needed home office item. It helps prop up your laptop when you have meetings, conference calls, lectures, etc. It prevents you from further straining your back and hunching over your screen.

4. Desk Lamp
Getting a desk lamp can also help with your productivity, especially if you’re in a room that doesn’t have enough lighting or any windows. Plus, lighting gets worse in the wintertime. I personally can’t do any of my readings without enough light.
5. Ring Light
A ring light is another home office essential to acquire this year. It makes your conference calls (or any of your meeting calls) seem much brighter and professional. This also saves you a lot of time tweaking the lights and struggling with your set-up on the daily as a ring light fixes both problems efficiently!
6. Blue Light Glasses
Blue light blocking glasses are another essential as a lot of us learn to navigate full work loads online. Screen fatigue is real and the more actions we take to limit it, the less we will feel tired and headachy. Therefore, blue light glasses can also help to be productive as they reduce eye strain.
7. Noise Cancelling Headphones
Noise cancelling headphones are another must-have. They’re perfect to use anywhere and everywhere. And they’re especially ideal for when there are other people in the house with you. They limit distracting noises and help you fully focus on your task at hand.
8. Wireless Charger
Wireless chargers are a game changer! I get so overwhelmed when there are too many charging cables surrounding my office. The less cable, the better I feel. Also, I’m less likely to trip over one (true story.)
9. USB Key
A USB key is an absolute ESSENTIAL. Nothing is more disappointing than losing the files you’ve been consistently working really hard on. NOTHING. Back up your long hours of work.
10. File Organizer
File organizers are also super important and helpful. Similarly to backing up, you don’t want to lose any of your important papers. My home office hosts all kinds of paper – business, schooling, banking, etc. – and I wouldn’t want to lose any of them or waste my time searching for a specific paper.
11. Storage Trays
Storage trays are very practical home office essentials as they can help you reduce clutter and keep everything nicely together. You can make your space less overwhelming, and, therefore be able to concentrate better on your work.
12. Mug warmer
A mug warmer is also a great investment. Since it keeps your morning coffee warm, you don’t have to rush to drink it finish and you don’t need to reheat it in the microwave or throw it away. It’s honestly such a great invention!

13. Reusable Water Bottle
it’s also a great idea to get a reusable water bottle because it will encourage you to drink more water and it will save you money from buying plastic bottles. The latter also being bad for your health and the environment. Having a glass of water is too tricky as it’s more prone to spill and plus, it doesn’t hold as much water as a reusable bottle.
14. Throw Blanket
A throw blanket is also a handy essential to have in your home office. This is mostly because you can get cold easily – especially in the wintertime. I live in Canada and let me tell you, nothing prepares me for the winter cold.
Having a throw blanket is ideal because it adds that supplementary layer that an extra pair of sock or sleeve shirt can’t offer me.
It doesn’t mean that because it’s a home office that it should be uncomfortable and as frigid as a library. Remember: these home essentials are meant to enhance your productivity while you work at home.
15. Office supplies
The last item, that every home office needs, is office supplies. These basic supplies ensure that you do your work quickly and efficiently by having the right tools at your disposal.

SHELLEY HANSON says
The stand-up desk and ergonomic chair can really help. It is important that you don’t sit for too long and when you are sitting, the chair helps you to sit correctly. I use both. I have also given serious consideration to noise-canceling headphones. I think they are a great idea. Thank you for all the helpful ideas 🙂
