Personally, I love learning about entrepreneurship – and consequently, stories of, about, and, by entrepreneurs. Books for entrepreneurs help inspire me in my own business and creative journey.
I have combined a list of the top 7 books for entrepreneurs that have taught me how to further push my creativity and skills to build and manage a business. Hopefully, these books will help inspire you too. 📖
1. “Steal Like an Artist” by Austin Kleon
“Steal Like an Artist” is a wonderful read for entrepreneurs but more specifically creative entrepreneurs.
It is a short little inspirational book. A book containing a mashup of motivational quotes, anecdotes, illustrations, and a collection of 10 helpful advice. These tips help to believe in your journey, yourself, and your creativity.
I found this book very motivating as it is constant reminder on my shelf holding me accountable both to my work (online business) and to my art (writing.)
2. “Outliers: The Story of Success” by Malcolm Gladwell
“Outliers” was so remarkable to me that I wrote a whole blog post on the book, you can read it here. The book shows what success – being an “outlier” – truly means in the context of opportunity, community, and skill.
Gladwell highlights the fact that we have the choice to be outliers by creating meaning in the work we do. As well by grasping the different opportunities that come our way. And, we can be truly successful in the means of personal happiness and self-fulfillment.

3. “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert T. Kiyosaki
If you are a frequent reader of my website you would know how highly I talk about this book!
I’ve written about “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” in greater lengths in my post Top 3 Personal Finance Books for Beginners.
To quote myself, I think this book is highly illuminating without being disrespectful to higher education and middle-class workers. It shows readers that there are more than one schools of learning and that education extends far beyond schooling and home environment.
It is one the best books to start your entrepreneurial endeavours as it teaches how to embody the ‘Rich Dad’ approach to making money.
4. “Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable” by Seth Godin
“Purple Cow” is an entrepreneurial book exploring new wave marketing and the importance of creating brilliant idea.
The concept of the “purple cow” is to create a product that is truly remarkable and hence marketable.
Godin walks you through past and current businesses – their ideas, strategies, and marketing techniques – in order to explain what makes them a ‘purple cow’ that separates them from the herd.
5. “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R. Covey
“The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” is a life-changing book that offers powerful lessons in personal change.
Covey presents each habit linearly as they work on the incorporation of the previous habit. These habits help you build both inter-personal and professional relationships.
This book shows the great significance of developing our communication skills. The principles in this book have helped many people to run more successful businesses, excel in their relationships, as well as develop a more fulfilling life and thus, building life-long effective habits.
6. “The 4-Hour Week” by Timothy Ferris
“The 4-Hour Workweek” is another one of my all-time favourite entrepreneurial books as it teaches how to escape the 9-5, automate my business, and live anywhere while working for myself.
Basically, it is the blueprint book on how to escape the rat-race in order to maximize your hours of living, hence, the title the 4-hour workweek.
7. “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie
“How to Win Friends and Influence People” is a great read for entrepreneurs!
Dale Carnegie teaches how to cultivate our relationship with others. In essence, Carnegie instructs how to connect with people, influence others, and build friendships.
It is another book with a great focus on effective communication.
I wrote a post on How to Handle Criticism using references of Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” You can read that post here.
I hope you enjoyed my list of the top 7 books for entrepreneurs that have inspired and instructed me in both my creative and entrepreneurial endeavours.
